No sink, no bounce, no soft spots: a flat, stable surface that stays consistent from edge to edge and from head to foot. That comes from two full coil units of 14-gauge double-tempered recycled steel, the heaviest gauge we use, held apart by a dense coconut fiber pad. No adhesives bind the layers together — they're held by hand needle-tufting with organic wool rosettes, so there are no glue seams between layers to break down or harden over time. One honest note on feel: heavier sleepers will register slightly more give than lighter ones, simply because more weight compresses more coil. It stays definitively firm at either end of that range. Best for back and stomach sleepers who need alignment under load, athletes, and anyone who has found every other mattress too soft. Strict side sleepers will likely find it too firm — add an Organic Latex Mattress Topper, or step down to the Avocado Green Firm Mattress.

Up to 550 lbs per person, or 1,100 lbs total — our highest capacity by a wide margin. Two full coil units of double-tempered recycled steel, wound in our own facility rather than bought from a supplier, which is why both units run uniform 14-gauge instead of whatever a catalog offers. Every spring sits in its own pocket, in both layers — no helical wire threading the coils together, no interconnected grid anywhere in the mattress. Uniform gauge throughout means the perimeter is as firm as the center, with no soft edges. Pair it with our Heavy Duty Foundation, rated to 2,000 lbs of total load.

Organic Dunlop latex, certified to GOLS for organic content and FSC® for responsible sourcing, from co-owned farmer societies in India and Guatemala. In the Extra Firm we use two inches of soft D65 — enough give at the surface that you aren't lying on steel, over a support core that doesn't move.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC WOOL

Organic wool, certified to the Responsible Wool Standard, at one ounce per square foot. It wicks moisture, resists odor, and passes flammability standards on its own — no chemical flame retardants.

CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON

A breathable organic cotton cover, hand needle-tufted with wool yarn rosettes. Part of the GOTS-certified finished mattress, audited from farm to factory. Grown without synthetic pesticides or defoliants.

EXTRA COOL

Heat gets trapped when you sink into a mattress: polyurethane foam wraps around you and holds warmth against your body. This one doesn't let you sink. You sleep on the surface, with air moving through it. No polyurethane foam of any kind. No phase-change coatings that wear off after a year. Instead: perforated organic Dunlop latex ventilated with hundreds of airflow channels, an organic coconut fiber pad infused with organic latex, organic wool that wicks moisture away from your skin, and an innerspring core that breathes by design. Cooling comes from the build, not a treatment.

LOWER PROFILE 

Most mattresses marketed to heavier sleepers look thick. Almost all of that height is polyurethane foam stacked in layers, and foam is the part that compresses, softens, and leaves body impressions. The Extra Firm is 10 inches, and nearly all of it is load-bearing: two full coil units of 14-gauge steel, a dense coconut fiber pad, and firm D65 latex. Nothing in the stack is there to add height for no reason. That's how it supports 550 lbs per person while sitting four inches lower than mattresses rated for half the weight. It also fits standard sheets and works on platform beds without the stepladder effect — a practical advantage, not just a visual one.

STRONG SUPPORT

Queen and larger Extra Firm mattresses need a rigid center support beam with at least one leg to the floor, and slats no more than 5 inches apart. Our Heavy Duty Foundation clears both: slats 2.5 inches wide spaced just 2 inches apart, and a 2,000 lb total load rating — matched to this mattress the way our Standard Foundation is matched to the rest of the line. Available in 3.5-inch low profile and 7.25-inch standard heights, with or without legs.
