Helix Midnight — Product Description

What It Is

  • Type: Hybrid mattress — combines foam layers (memory foam + responsive poly foams) + individually wrapped steel coils. 

  • Height / Thickness: ~ 12 inches for the standard Midnight model

  • Feel / Firmness: Medium-feel (roughly 5-6 on a 1-10 scale), described by Helix and reviewers as “not too soft, not too firm,” with some saying slightly firmer than pure medium. 

Construction / Layers

Here are the internal layers & materials:

Layer Material / Feature Purpose / Benefit
Cover “Breathe Knit” breathable cover (standard). Optional upgrades to GlacioTex Cooling Cover or Cooling Pillow Top.  Helps with airflow, moisture wicking; cooling options are better for hot sleepers.
Comfort / Top Layer Memory Plus Foam — a Helix proprietary memory foam blend.  Gives pressure relief especially over hips & shoulders; soft contouring feel.
Transition Layers Responsive foams / polyfoams beneath the top memory foam Used to moderate the sink of the memory foam, prevent “too soft” feeling, help with contouring but also support.
Support Layer / Coils Individually wrapped steel coils. Helix also reinforces lengthwise sides for edge-support.  Provides overall support, bounce, cooling from airflow, and better edge stability vs foam only.
Base / Foundation Dense foam (support foam base) below the coils. For structural support, durability.

Key Features / Performance

  • Pressure Relief: Good contouring; helps reduce pressure around shoulders/hips especially in side sleeping. 

  • Motion Isolation: Because of foam layers + wrapped coils, it does a decent job isolating motion — so partner movement is less likely to disturb

  • Temperature Regulation / Cooling:

    • The breathable cover helps; optional upgrade to more advanced cooling cover (GlacioTex) if you sleep hot. 

    • The coil core allows airflow compared to all-foam beds.

  • Edge Support: Reinforced edges (“lengthwise sides”) help; pretty good but perhaps not as strong as some ultra-luxury hybrids
