EOS Classic Organic Mattress Care Instructions
To keep your EOS in great condition, use a mattress protector to guard against spills and wear. You can rotate it head to foot every 3-6 months to promote even use, or rotate the internal layers as desired (just don’t change the order of the layers). Make sure your EOS is placed on a supportive foundation or base, and if your foundation has slats, they should be spaced no more than 3 inches apart. As needed, spot clean with mild detergent and cold water, and avoid soaking or harsh chemicals. You can let the mattress breathe occasionally by pulling back bedding to release moisture, and avoid bending, folding, or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. A light, natural scent from materials like wool or latex is normal at first and will fade over time.
Minimized Chemical Exposure
At Naturepedic, we minimize environmental impact and health risks by strictly avoiding flame retardants, phthalates, vinyl/PVC, formaldehyde, and other materials found in conventional mattresses and bedding. We adhere to strict, third-party standards and testing protocols and, in 2024, we became the first mattress brand to become EWG Verified®. View more of our certifications.
Organic Cotton
Certified organic cotton stands out as a safer choice for the environment, farmers, and consumers alike because it’s cultivated without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, as prohibited by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Organic certification ensures adherence to strict environmental and ethical standards, promoting biodiversity, soil health, and fair labor practices. This results in a healthier, more sustainable fabric that minimizes exposure to toxic chemicals.
Organic Wool
When it comes to wool, organic certification ensures ethical animal welfare practices, natural grazing, and soil health standards, benefiting the environment and the animals. It also ensures that no GOTS-prohibited chemical treatments are used in processing, making it healthier for you, the consumer, as well. Better still, wool is naturally flame-resistant, eliminating the need for flame retardant chemicals or barriers.
Organic Latex
Made from the sap of the rubber tree, certified organic latex offers a more sustainable alternative to polyurethane foam, made without harmful chemicals, pesticides, and additives prohibited by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS). This certification upholds strict environmental and social standards, ensuring material integrity, fair labor practices, and support for our planet's rubber tree forests.
Plant-Based PLA
Plant-based PLA (polylactic acid) is a fiber derived from plant sugars. Ours is sourced from non-GMO sugarcane. As a plant-based alternative to petroleum-derived synthetics, PLA helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels while offering a lightweight, resilient material that performs well in bedding applications. By using responsibly sourced plant inputs rather than conventional plastics, PLA supports a more sustainable material system while maintaining the comfort and durability expected in modern sleep products.
Glueless Encased Coils
Our encased coil system is engineered without the use of glues or adhesives, relying instead on precise mechanical assembly and heat-sealed fabric encasements. Each coil is individually wrapped to provide targeted support and reduced motion transfer, helping the mattress respond more accurately to your body. Made in-house using recycled U.S. steel, these coils reflect a more controlled, responsible approach to manufacturing. By eliminating adhesives in this critical structural layer, we prioritize material integrity, durability, and a cleaner overall design.
Sustainability in Every Stitch
Naturepedic has been honored with the Good Housekeeping Sustainable Innovation Award, the Real Leaders® Eco Innovation Award, the Clean Production Action’s Chemical Footprint Project Front Runner Award, the Environmental Working Group Hero Award, and others. We are a Green America Gold certified business and, as a 1% for the Planet Member, Naturepedic donates 1% (or more!) of our annual mattress sales to environmental organizations driving change.
Made in the USA
Naturepedic products are consciously crafted in the USA using a blend of high-quality domestic and global materials. By manufacturing here at home, we support local jobs and ensure strict quality control, while our carefully selected global materials help us create products that meet the highest organic and safety standards — plus, we’ve personally tested them so we know they’re oh-so-comfy!
GOTS-Certified Organic Factory
We don’t just get our products certified — we get our entire factory certified, too! The Global Organic Textile Standard requires annual audits of certified factories. This means that our facility, located in Chagrin, Falls, Ohio, is inspected once a year to ensure it continues to meet the stringent standards for organic production, environmental management, and social responsibility.
